How To Set Windows Automatic Update

Just like any other software, the Microsoft Windows OS receives regular updates, security patches, enhancements. The onus is upon us, the computer users to keep our systems up-to-date and avoid exposing loop holes to potential online attacks and hacks. Hundreds, if not thousands of loop holes are detected by virus authors around the world and Microsoft tries to plug these by releasing updates from time to time.

Below, i’ve listed steps that you can follow to configure Windows Automatic Update:

1. Make sure you are logged in using Administrator account.

2. Go to Start -> Settings -> click on Control Panel

3. Click on System icon which opens up the “system properties” dialog box.

4. In the system properties dialog box, click on “Automatic Updates” tab.

Set the different parameters like frequency of download and time. Click on Apply and then OK. Thats it! The only other thing you’ll need to do is to keep your system running and connect to the internet during the time specified for Windows Automatic Update! This is just one of the computer maintenance activities you need to look out for.
